Mgmt lessions for young leaders

I found it pretty realistic.

B-schools rarely highlight the trickiest issue that a manager confronts - the delicate balance between work and life. Here's an interesting analogy. You are like a juggler, who has to keep five balls in the air.

Four balls are glass and the fifth is rubber. The glass balls are your family, health, friends and spirit. The rubber ball is your work. If a glass ball falls, it will crack beyond repair. If the rubber ball falls, it will bounce back, if not tomorrow, then in a few months.

Unfortunately, some young leaders are focusing so much on the rubber ball, they are dropping the glass balls. They do not understand the basic truth that if your glass balls are intact, you will do much better in your professional career.

Good one

Thanks to Saurabh for sharing.

Now I know you are out of my imagination,
I can’t see you when I close my eyes
I can only see work not done, bills not paid,
My daughter crying as I reach home late

It’s not that you have disappeared
It’s just that you have taken a back seat in my thoughts
As priorities change, the relation also changes
from love to understanding from understanding to compromise

I would love to have a chat over a cup of coffee
Ask you how you’ve been, how life has treated you lately
But then my daughter’s homework is more important
I have to drop her to the dance class daily

Kitchen is the only escape where I can be myself
I cook and enjoy my culinary skills
Make a drink for self, enjoying it solo standing in
As that’s the only way I can chill

All of us have a different dinner schedule
Just like morning and afternoon
I end up having it alone
And of course the last one to munch on.

By the time I reach the bed you are in your dreamland
Waking you up is a crime big enough
I just lie down next to you thinking about next day’s work
Clothes to wash, dishes to clean, school fee…..and I doze off !!

Just chill

When someone is doing something or is about to do something, in a way we don’t want it to be done and when we are not able to accept it, we become angry.

However, when someone is doing something or is about to do something, in a way we don’t want it to be done – and we are able to accept it – We remain tolerant.

When someone has something which we don’t have, or someone is able to produce the results which we are not able to produce – and we are not able to accept it – we become jealous.

When someone has something which we don’t have or someone is able to produce the results which we are not able to produce and we are able to accept it we get inspired.

When Someone is present in our thoughts, but if not physically present and we are not able to accept it – We say ‘I am missing you’.

When someone is present in our thoughts, but not physically present – and we are able to accept it – We say ‘I am thinking of you’.

Then emotional equation is quite simple.

Something + Acceptance = Positive Emotion
Something + Non Acceptance = Negative Emotion

So, it is not ‘Something’ or ‘someone’ who is making us feel positive or negative, but it is our ‘acceptance’ or ‘non acceptance’ of something or someone, which is making us feel positive or negative.

It isn’t the world but the quality of our response to the world (acceptance or non acceptance) that determines the quality of our emotions.

Next time we feel disturbed with a negative emotion, instead of asking who or what is disturbing us, we will examine who or what we are resisting (not accepting) that is causing this disturbance in us. We will replace resistance (non acceptance) with acceptance, and the negative emotion will turn into a positive one.

Emotional management begins by stopping to blame that ‘something’ or ‘someone’ and starting to take the responsibility to respond to life with ‘acceptance’.

Thanks shiva.shankar for sharing this.

Lost

Thanks to Saurabh for sharing such a nice heart touching one.

I was a just-born and she was thirty-one,
Though we were we, we were one.
I would cry out in Latin and she would respond in Greek,
I would learn nothing but she never got tired to teach.

I was surrounded by monsters eager to pull my cheek,
but they would vanish the moment i was wet and weep.
She would come running and hold me in her arms,
as if i had won the contest of the charms.

Now I was able to walk and chew,
hey, i was two.
I and she could now understand each other,
i was her everything and she needed no other.

I would try to walk and fall down,
But knowing she was with me, the fear of getting hurt was now gone.
We still could not converse that effectively,
But she would understand my needs so easily.

I could now roam about free,
because now i have turned three.
I was ready to join a new world,
my academic life was now gonna mould.

She would dress me as best as a prince,
but when i would come back, she would need at least an hour to rinse.
I was now able to talk,
I was a ferry and she was my dock.

I still remember the child, whose shirt I had tore,
Hey buddy, i have turned four.
I now came home a little late,
Nevertheless finding her waiting at the gate.
She would hug me and carry me in her arms,
it felt like flying through the farms.
We now did the homework together,
i would spoil the home and she used to work.

Years passed and now i was fifteen, and with each year i would forget to lean.
I wouldn't care for what she said, because now i had become mean.
She would ask me to study for a good future,
but i was busy in a different culture.
Now i had many shes in my life,
i dreamed of having one of them as my wife.

I changed a lot which she did not teach,
She would try to hug me but i was out of reach.
She still waited for me at the gate,
but i would look at her with utmost hate.
She would be awake till late in the night,
because i wasn't home, i was in a fight.
She had so much to scold, but she never did say,
hoping to find me better the next day.
Time went on and now i am grown,
lost in the world of my own.

I and she, between us have a river,
I have left her for my career.
When i was young, for me, she sacrificed her ambitions,
but i don't care, i now have my own mission.
I am not with her now, i am in a different city,
she is so old now but i don't even pity.

She needs me now but i am nowhere to find,
in the race for appraisal, i have become blind.
In a few years from now, i will be two,
there will be in my life someone new.
Then i'll forget even to bother,
i am her son and she my Mother.

I think nobody can forget her.
The days she spent for us
Sleepless nights when you are coming late
Is this her real fate?
Eats only after feeding you
Cries when you get hurt
You may not have seen her tears
As she is having a deep ocean in her soul

All she needs that’s your love in feedback
And definitely no one can find this unconditional love anywhere...!

Gandhi Giri

Today's new buzz word is GandhiGiri. When I saw LRMB, I was amazed. Story was well thought and presentation was for all class of the society.
Along with the entertainment, it makes you think (offcourse if you really want to) if Gandhi's concept are still workable after 60 years.
I think, they are.
Portions of the movie,
When Gandhi says, Let them break all my statues, photos etc but asked them to keep me in hearts.
When Gandhi asked MB to say sorry to Circuit at sea beach.
Again when he asked MB to keep patience, not to reply in anger.
are really relevant in our daily day-to-day interaction with other people.

Relationships are work . . .

They say “it takes two” to make a good relationship,And that’s why I’m asking for your help.I really love you, but things aren’t right between us,And I can’t fix it alone.

They say “relationships are work,” And I’m willing to work at what we have because,I don’t want to lose the good things we share.I really don’t want to lose you.

They say “don’t expect someone you love to be able to read your mind-Tell them what you want and what you need.”

That’s why I’m telling you,I still believe you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

That’s why I’m hoping,You will help me peel away the parts that aren’t right,Because underneath that is the greatest love I’ve ever known.

We are worth it.I believe that with all my heart!

A friend is someone who thinks you're a good egg even though you're slightly cracked . . .

Didn't want to loose it

Himmat

From Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Mara.
Thanks to Rohit for excellent blog.

First Time Blood Donation

Today I have donated the blood for the first time. It was for Mr. Jain suffering from MCD, something like Blood cancer in which creation of red cells in blood stops or becomes minimal.

For me, it was great experience. Though my family was little bit scared initially, but they didn't stop me. I hope I can continue this service to society as and when somebody need.

Anybody can enrol in Lions BloodLine , so that whenever somebody in need can contact you.

The first Q of 2006 is going to pass very soon. I was totally busy at my home as well in office. I have completed the First cut of PseudoTranslation project. It was a good knowledgeable project. Still I feel I need to do more in this area, need to cover a lot of areas, solve more issues.

Riya

My little one.
I really miss her when I am in office. I want to spent more time with her.

She is very naughty and caring too.

New Year has come

After long long time I am again writting to my blog.
Last few months a lot has changed. Its now a year 2006. We have moved to our new house. I like the house very much. We spent a lot of time and money decorating it, making it comfortable.
I have finished my last project. That was an installation project. I am happy that i could do it within time and without any major bug. Whatever reported was solved imm. Though I didn't like the installation product packaging and configuration doing for long but I like interacting with people and finishing the stuff in very much neat way.
Now I have moved to new project. It is translation project. I was always writting code in such a fashion that anytime if company wants to change the language of the product it should be able to do it with minimal efforts.
Now I am dealing with XLIFF, a technology developed in last 4 years not mature enough, but looks pretty intresting.

Here are the links which I like most.
